I was heading east for the Atlantic coast from the southwest United States, and somewhere in Alabama the train came to a complete stop and didn't move for another several hours. In the midst of wondering what was going on that had halted the Crescent Line I meandered up to the club car to socialize, and found it packed with a bunch of guys from Atlanta playing poker and smoking cigarettes.
BOUND FOR CAROLINA
Maddie McGuire
(c) 2007 GirlMoon Music
{chorus}
I wish I was bound for Carolina
all this long gone behind me
but how will they look at me
when I finally make it back to Carolina
The path's been long and winding
each passin' day and mornin' sun
brings somethin' that puts me farther away
from the crescent moon rising
over the waters of Charleston
and the small mountain breezes sat
{repeat chorus}
Little black books filled up with names
of old flames and I wish were here
when I need them to hold my hands
but I just wouldn't be the same
we've long since lost touch I fear
love me as a child leave me as a woman
{repeat chorus}
And the boys from Atlanta are crowding the club car
if only the distance were only that far
I could play a hand of poker with them
and forget about the smokin' ribbons
{repeat chorus}
Note: Had my guitar not been packed away in check I might have put at least chords to it, but that didn't happen so yeah. Either way the Boys from Atlanta liked the bridge.
